After the freezing cold, warm golden rays of sun seems to be very alluring. Many people simply can’t resist spending hours under sun. But spending hours under sun is not safe for your skin as its harmful UV rays tend to damage your skin. The first visible sign of damage caused to your skin is SUNTAN.
Suntan can mainly be defined as browning or darkening of skin due to sun exposure. To discuss it more in detail, harmful sun rays damages the epidermis of your skin results in tanning. In order to prepare homemade suntan recipe the key ingredients required are various essential oils. Primarily you require Calendula and Lavender essential oils as they have anti-inflammatory properties and beneficial in protecting your skin from tanning. This homemade suntan oil recipe is categorized according to your skin type.
- Homemade Suntan Oil Recipe for Dry Skin: For preparing this you require 4 tsp each of walnut oil, avocado oil, hazelnut oil wheat germ oil and sesame oil. Then you need is 4 drops of patchouli oil and 6 drops of calendula oil. Mix all the above essential oils thoroughly and store it a small bottle and cap it tightly.
- Homemade Suntan Oil Recipe for Normal Skin: For normal skin suntan oil you need 2 tbsp of each wheat germ oil and sesame oil. 4 tsp of each walnut and hazelnut oil and 5 drops of each Lavender oil and Ylang-ylang oil. Mix all the essential oils thoroughly and store it a small bottle.
Remember that you shake well the oil before use and keep the oil bottle in dry, cool place and away from direct sunlight.
How to Apply Homemade Suntan Oil before Sunbath?
It is very effective and easy to use. You simply need to apply the oil evenly and sparingly all over your body. At least 30 minutes before sunbathing gently exfoliate your skin. Make sure that oil at least has penetrated the upper layer or epidermis of your skin before you go out. This will ensure activation of effective protective properties of oil while you are basking under sun.
