User Suggested Home remedy:
I’ve found the simplest and most effective home remedy for head lice of all is simply olive oil.
By covering the entire head thoroughly in olive oil (the cheapest kind is fine), you smother the live lice. You do need to be sure to leave the oil on for several hours (overnight is best).
Comb out the dead lice and eggs, shampoo with a clarifying shampoo or Dawn dish soap and repeat every 4 days for about 2 weeks. That’s just in case you missed some of the eggs and they hatch and start breeding again.
This method of getting rid of head lice is very effective and you don’t have to worry about harsh chemicals or awful smells. Too, most people have olive oil on hand so it is very convenient.
