Resveratrol is a polyphenolic compound produced naturally in seed-producing plants as a means of self defense while under bacterial or fungal attack. Other than blueberries, cranberries, rose hips and peanuts, resveratrol is also found in the skin of red grapes. There are two forms of resveratrol – cis and trans. Since 1992, resveratrol has started generating a lot of interest when it was reported to be found in red wine. Today, resveratrol is associated with a number of important benefits in the body.
