How to Treat Swimmer’s Ear Naturally

Swimmer’s ear

is an inflammation of the external ear and ear canal due to excess exposure to water. As swimmers are more prone to this condition it is called swimmer’s ear. This should be treated in the initial stages to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi.

Mild infection in the ear can be treated by placing a few drops of

white vinegar

in both ears. Put 3 to 4 drops of vinegar in one ear and leave in the ear canal for 5 minutes before turning the ear. Do the same with the other ear. Repeat this 2 to 3 times a day.

Symptoms of Swimmer’s ear:

  • Continuous itch in the ear
  • Decreased hearing
  • Milky or yellowish discharge from the ear
  • Swelling in the ear
  • Swelling of lymph nodes on the neck
  • Heaviness in the ear
  • A sudden, sharp pain in the ear
  • Buzzing and humming sound in the ear
  • Ear wax appears soft and white
  • Outer skin of the ear appears scaly

Baby Oil for treating Swimmer’s ear:

Take some baby oil in a bowl and heat it. Pour this into ears when it is warm with the help of dropper. Place a cotton ball to stop from spilling. Do this once a day. It is a good remedy for this condition.

Apple cider vinegar:

Apple cider vinegar is especially meant to prevent the infection. Dilute 3 to 4 drops of apple cider vinegar by adding water or alcohol to it. Put them as drops in the ear to remove the clogged water in the ears.

Peroxide for Swimmer’s ears:

Mix white vinegar, water and peroxide in 1:1:1 ratio and put a few drops of this mixture into the ears using a dropper. Let it stay for a minute and then drain the solution out of the head. Do this once a day preferrably before bedtime.

Drying the water:

Another remedy is to dry the water in the ear by hair dryer. Set the drier and sway it across the ear. The warm air will dry your ear by evaporating any trapped water.
