Natural Treatments for Body Odor

Body odor is an unpleasant smell that comes from an individual’s body due to the growth of bacteria. Most people believe that sweating or perspiration results in body odor, but it is not true. It may be surprising, but it is not sweat which causes body odor, but the bacteria which grows on the skin.

Bacteria releases nasty smelling chemicals that in turn cause body odor. These bacteria increase rapidly in the presence of sweat and thus, people smell when they sweat. Usage of deodorants worsens the condition because they contain several toxic substances. This problem can be solved by following natural remedies.

Natural Treatments for Body Odor:

  • One can apply baking soda to the armpits and to the feet for reducing the body odor.
  • For preventing body odor, drink a glass of water on an empty stomach in the morning together with 500 mg of wheat grass. Chlorophyll in the grass helps in reducing body odor.
  • Use apple cider vinegar for reducing pH of the skin and for eliminating armpit odor. Mix apple cider vinegar to a mug of water and use it for rinsing armpits while bathing. This is a good remedy for reducing body odor.
  • Add white vinegar or alcohol to a mug of water and rinse armpits with it. This is very effective in reducing body odor.
  • Apply baby talc or powder instead of deodorants to the armpits during the summers.
  • In the summer season, take at least three showers, when you tend to sweat more.
  • Extract juice from two dozen radishes and mix it with ¼ tablespoon of glycerin. Mix them well to prepare a natural deodorant. Pour this mixture in a spray-top bottle and use it for the armpits. This mixture must be stored in the refrigerator.
  • The most simple and easy remedy is to add a few drops of rosewater to bathing water. This gives long lasting freshness and acts as a best substitute for deodorants.
  • Add 10 drops of essential oil to 30 ml of water and apply it on the armpits for reducing the body odor.
  • Mix 2 drops of tea tree essential oil and an ounce of water and pour it in a spray-top bottle. Use this as a deodorant.
  • Grate turnip and extract juice from those pieces. Apply this on the armpits for reducing body odor.
