Natural Remedies for Sore Throat

Sore throat is an inflammation caused by viral infection and often develops with flu or cold. Frequently it occurs when an individual has cold or an influenza attack. Sore throat symptoms include difficulty in swallowing, tender and swollen lymph nodes, throat pain, fever and chills and throat irritation. Certain natural remedies for sore throat are useful in relieving the symptoms.

Natural Remedies for Sore Throat:

  • Ginger Water:

    Grate a tablespoon of ginger and add it to a cup of hot water. Drink it as a tea. This is also a good remedy for eliminating toxins and digesting food.

  • Lemon:

    Honey and lemon are the traditional cures for sore throat which is painful. This aids in killing bacteria which cause inflammation and alleviates pain. Mix a tablespoon each of lemon juice and honey. Gargle with this mixture 3 – 4 times in a day. If you are allergic to lemon, use honey.

  • Salt and Water:

    To a cup of warm water add a tablespoon of salt and gargle it 3 – 4 times in a day. This is the most effective remedy for sore throat.

  • Chamomile Tea:

    Gargle with chamomile tea. This aids in reducing throat inflammation. This is another most beneficial natural remedy for sore throat.

  • Turmeric and Salt:

    Mix a tablespoon of salt and a pinch of turmeric powder to a cup of warm water. Twice a day gargle with this mixture. This is a good remedy for relieving the symptoms of sore throat.

  • Warm water:

    Gargle with warm water for 3 – 4 times in a day. Before gargling, clean the mouth. You can also gargle with tea tree essential oil. Mix 10 drops of tea tree essential oil to a cup of warm water and gargle with this mixture for three times a day.
